Status Consequences

Level 1: Acceptable Dispositions

  • If all reports are positive, there will be no contact with the Dispositions Coordinator.
  • This status level will remain unchanged.

Level 2: Dispositions Alert

  • The candidate will receive a Dispositions Status Change report with directions to schedule an
    individual conference with the Dispositions Coordinator.
  • During the conference, a development plan will be established with specific tasks and timelines
    designed to support the candidate’s development of appropriate dispositions for teaching.
  • The candidate will complete the development plan requirements.
  • A final report will be dispersed by the Dispositions Coordinator to the candidate, the reporting
    instructor(s), and the candidate’s advisor to be maintained in the candidate’s file.
  • If a candidate fails to complete the development plan, or fails to meet the expectations of the
    development plan, the candidate will be assigned a new status rating of Level 3 and a new
    conference will be required to determine the best course of action.

Level 3: Dispositions Concerns

  • The candidate will receive a Dispositions Status Change report with directions to schedule an
    individual conference with the Dispositions Coordinator.
  • During the conference, an extensive development plan will be established with several specific
    tasks and timelines designed to support the candidate’s development of appropriate dispositions
    for teaching. This development plan may include a field work component, if deemed appropriate.
  • The candidate and the Dispositions Coordinator will meet with the Department Chair (or
    designee) to discuss the reported concerns and the development plan. Adjustments to the
    development plan will be made, if recommended by the Department Chair.
  • The candidate will complete the development plan requirements.
  • A final report will be dispersed by the Dispositions Coordinator to the candidate, the Department
    Chair, the reporting instructor(s), the Clinical Coordinator, and the candidate’s advisor to be
    maintained in the candidate’s file.
  • If a candidate fails to complete the development plan, or fails to meet the expectations of the
    development plan, the candidate will be assigned a new status rating of Level 4, and a new
    conference will be required to determine the best course of action.

Level 4: Unacceptable Dispositions

  • The candidate will receive a Dispositions Status Change report with directions to
    schedule an individual conference with the Dispositions Coordinator.
  • At the conference, the Dispositions Coordinator will process a Teacher Education Deficiency Report
    with a recommendation for a formal Student Performance Review pending authorization by the Department Chairperson.
