An important objective of the Blackwell Museum is to promote interest in the history of education. One of the ways the museum meets that objective is to offer products for purchase. These include videotapes, books, and replicas of books pertaining to the history of education. All these items are useful in the classroom or for libraries, and some products even make nice gifts.
All proceeds are used to help fund the Blackwell Museum.
This program provides a glimpse into what it was like to attend a one-room school at the turn of the century. From the moment the teacher rang the bell in the morning to the time the students were dismissed in the afternoon, children in one-room schools were occupied with the business of learning, playing, and growing. You'll not only see children learning the 3 R's, but their recess, lunch and all the other activities confronting students of the one-room school. (color, 16 minutes)

A Meere Scholler is a collection of eighteen articles that were presented for the International History of Education Symposium at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois in 1994. Five hundred people from twenty countries, including social museum curators and historians of education attended the symposium. Educational historians from five universities reviewed the fifty manuscripts submitted for publication (out of a total of ninety papers presented) and selected the articles contained in this book. Like the presenters themselves, the subject matter of these articles cross not only national but even continental boundaries.
The essays are grouped around five themes. The first papers examine the usefulness of educational history. Promoting the utilization of school museums and libraries is the theme of the second set of papers. The third group of papers concerns the use of iconics in the study of educational history. The fourth and largest group of papers relates to the cross-cultural interchange of educational ideas and practices. The fifth and final group of papers focuses on research methodologies used in the writing of educational history.
A Meere Scholler is an important and valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of education. It is published by the Educational Studies Press of the College of Education at Northern Illinois University.
