Amy D. Rose is a professor of adult and higher education at Northern Illinois University. She is also President-Elect of the American Association of Adult Continuing Education (AAACE) and one of the designated co-editors of the 2010 Handbook of Adult Continuing Education. Over the past thirty years she has worked at a variety of non-traditional programs for adults and at several community colleges. Her research interests lie in the areas of history and policy of adult education although she has also written on various forms of non-traditional adult and higher education and programs for women. She has authored or coauthored numerous articles, reviews and conference proceedings. Her latest work has focused on a study of teachers and coordinators of steel mill learning centers. Currently, she is also working on a history of the GED.
