  • Dr. Rheineck has been with Northern Illinois University since 2007. She has taught a wide spectrum of courses including Orientation to the Counseling Profession, counseling practicum and internship, Counseling Women and Counseling Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered Individuals. Dr. Rheineck's research and publications have focused on women's career development, the implications of counseling lesbian and gay individuals and working with youth at risk. Dr. Rheineck is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Illinois and her counseling experience reflects a broad range of experiences that include adolescent inpatient residential treatment, outpatient counseling with adults and mental health counseling in the schools. Dr. Rheineck has also worked in Student Affairs as a counselor and program developer.

    In 2006, Dr. Rheineck received the Journal Award for Distinguished Scholarship from the Association for Adult Development and Aging (AADA). In 2003, she participated in the American Counseling Association (ACA) Emerging Leaders Training; a select group of people who were identified as making valuable contributions as future leaders of the association.

    Dr. Rheineck's current research includes; Gender identity and expression in women and its impact on identity development as well as career transition at midlife. In addition to her teaching and research, Dr. Rheineck has presented regionally and nationally on a variety of topics and currently serves as treasurer for a national organization (AADA), and is a committee member of ACA's Human Rights Committee.
