Cultural Considerations for Counseling: An Update on Best Practices

The Northern Illinois University Counselor Education and Supervision program is excited to announce the inaugural Counseling Symposium. This one-day symposium will offer a chance to hear from members of NIU's counseling faculty - leaders in the field. Workshops will focus on best practices in counseling for all counselors who identify as clinical mental health counselors, school counselors or college counselors.

The symposium will be held in the Learning Center, Gabel Hall, 245 University Circle. View directions and maps

  • Play therapy
  • LGBTQ+
  • Immigrant and refugee children
  • Supervision through a multicultural lens
  • Group work
