Partnerships
The College of Education has
eight partnerships with local school districts and supports additional partnerships with non-school
organizations such as the Oakcrest Retirement Center and the Great Lakes
Naval Training Center. A teacher-in-residence, school-based liaisons, and
an endowed chair in teacher education support partnership efforts that focus
on co-creating curricula, improving practice, and building collaboration
between the university and the partner organizations. Enhancing partnership
efforts in the following areas is a high priority for the college.
- Teacher-in-Residence
Program — to increase the numbers and areas served by PK-12
master teachers who teach and collaborate at the university during a year-long
experience
- Faculty-in-Residence
Program — to encourage faculty to spend a year working in
a school or organizational setting as a professional development experience
- Liaison
Program — to strengthen the connections between the university and partner organizations
- Graduate
Fellows Program — to allow successful undergraduate students
to continue in a master's program while collaboratively working with a partner
organization
- Collaborative
Curricular Design Teams — to support efforts to co-create
curriculum at the university and the partner organization
- Inquiry
Projects — to expand collaborative research activities designed to solve problems
experienced by the partner organization
