A greeting to my future students
Hi Everyone, My name is Miss Jurgens and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to spend the summer with you. I have been a teacher for five years and every year it amazes me how much I am still learning. I can not wait to share my passion
Why I want to be a teacher and what I believe promotes great learning
From a young age, I had the opportunity to work with children and found that I was always interested in the idea of teaching. Soon after my freshman year in high school, I had the opportunity to work at a summer camp with students teaching academics and social skills and realized that this was my calling. I believe great learning is created through a positive, inspiring and collaborative environment that challenges students academically and socially. I like to tell my students that learning never stops so it is important that we work together because Together Everyone Achieves More (TEAM).
Why I am interested in teaching in Taiwan
During this experience, I want to gain a deeper understanding and awareness of different cultures to strengthen my professional and personal life. As an individual coming into a new culture, I have just as much to learn from my students as they have to learn from me. Upon returning from this trip, I will be able to draw upon my experiences in the classroom, as a learner and teacher, and strengthening my connections with students and their families. Also, the experiences I share with my students will provide them with a greater readiness to participate as global citizens.
My desired superpower and why
As I get older, I crave more knowledge about the history of our world. What better way to learn than to travel back in time! If I had the superpower to travel back in time, there are just so many people I would love to meet and events I would love to attend.
