Scholarships

The following scholarships are available to interested and qualified students through the Department of Educational Technology, Research and Assessment. Students interested in these ETRA scholarships can apply through the College's Online Scholarship system.



ROBERT H. BAUERNFEIND MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

One scholarship for a master or doctoral student in the College of Education seeking a degree with an emphasis in Educational Research and Evaluation. The applicant must have completed a minimum of 15 credit hours by date of application.

  • Required elements. Completed 15 credit hours, letter of recommendation, high GPA, demonstrated interest in Educational Research & Evaluation, essay (250 words max) and resume.
  • Desired elements: Paper presentations at professional conferences, professional honors, and published articles/instruments.
  • Procedure. Complete application form and attach: resume, letter of recommendation, an essay (approximately 250 words) detailing your professional involvement in educational research and evaluation and your commitment to the field in your anticipated professional career. You should demonstrate your familiarity with educational research and evaluation by incorporating it in the foregoing discussion.
  • Selection. The ETRA Department Academic Research, Retention, and Professionalism Committee will choose the recipient. The committee's decision will be final. Successful candidates will be notified by e-mail.

DR. JAMES DOUGLAS GOTT EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP for DOCTORAL STUDENTS in INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY

One scholarship for participation in professional meetings and conferences related to Instructional Technology. All applicants must be at the doctoral level in the Instructional Technology program; must be able to demonstrate both academic and professional achievement in the field of Instructional technology and Design; and must have a paper or presentation related to Instructional Technology accepted at an international, state, or national conference for the coming year. Graduate student must have completed a minimum of 24 credit hours by date of application.

  • Required elements: Completed 24 hours, letter of recommendation, high GPA, resume, acceptance of paper/presentation at IT-related conference
    (include copy of abstract, authorship list and complete proposal).
  • Desired elements: Paper presentations at professional conferences, professional honors, and published articles/media.
  • Procedure. Complete application form and attach: resume, letter of recommendation, paper proposal (copy of abstract, authorship, complete proposal, and acceptance letter)
  • Selection. The ETRA Department Academic Research, Retention, and Professionalism Committee will choose the recipient. The committee's decision will be final. Successful candidates will be notified by e-mail.

ALICE H. HICKS TEACHERS' EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

One scholarship for nontraditional graduate students (over age 25) majoring in instructional technology seeking certification as Library Information Specialist. The students receiving the award should be committed to teaching after graduation.

  • Required elements: Completed 15 credit hours, letter of recommendation highlighting candidate's interest and experience in school library media, high GPA, demonstrated interest in school library media, 250-word essay, resume, demonstrated interest in School Library Media.
  • Desired elements: (Provide information in resume) Paper presentations at professional conferences, professional honors, and published articles/instruments.
  • Procedure. Complete application form and attach: resume, letter of recommendation, write an essay (250 words) describing your commitment to school library media and to teaching in the field after graduation. 
  • Selection. The ETRA Department Academic Research, Retention, and Professionalism Committee will choose the recipient. The committee's decision will be final. Successful candidates will be notified by e-mail.
