FIT Program Director: Vicky Books

Vicky has been an instructor in the NIU Department of Kinesiology & Physical Education since 1999. She has undergraduate degrees in both Exercise Science and in Recreation Program Administration from Illinois State University, 1991 and has a Master's in Education in Exercise Physiology from Northern Illinois University, 1996. Prior to working at NIU she worked for 10 years a Program Supervisor at both park district and private health fitness facilities. Vicky's certifications include: American Council on Exercise Group Fitness Instructor, Aquatic Exercise Association Group Fitness Instructor, Pilates Instructor Certification, Spinning Instructor Certification, and Kids in Motion Instructor Certification.

Marissa Ahrens

FIT Graduate Assistant: Marissa Ahrens

Marissa has Bachelor's of Science in Kinesiology/Athletic Training from NIU, 2010. Marissa is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Sport Management at NIU. Marissa completed her undergraduate internship at ESPN's Wide World of Sports, Orlando, FL as an intern athletic trainer and gained experience personal training during her undergraduate coursework at Oakcrest in DeKalb. Marissa specializes in the FIT Program Water Exercise and Latin Groove classes.
