The emphasis in athletic training reflects the requirements of the Commission on the Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP); students who want to sit for the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) examination must complete this emphasis. Current policies and procedures regarding eligibility for the NATABOC examination are available in the department's advising office. Admission to the emphasis in athletic training is competitive and limited. University admission does not necessarily constitute eligibility for admission into this area of study. Admission policies are described in the Limited Admissions and Limited Retention Requirements section of the undergraduate catalog. Retention in the program requires a 2.50 GPA in the major. Students enrolled in the athletic training emphasis may be dismissed from the program for academic reasons or for unprofessional behavior or actions that threaten the health and safety of others. It is the responsibility of students to secure a copy of the Athletic Training Student Handbook which describes the policies of the program. Students are required to adhere to all current policies and procedures.
