NIU offers video conference facilities in four locations: the Learning Center at the DeKalb Campus, and at the NIU campuses in Rockford, Hoffman Estates and Naperville. Video conferences provide for two-way audio and video communication between all connected sites.
In addition, the Learning Center provides facilities for audio conferences with high-end, Polycom speaker phones for sharp, clear connections. We can also arrange satellite downlinks and the reception of webcasts.
There are no charges for video conferences that are part of University business. Audio conferences, however, are charged back to the departments that requests them if the call is outgoing long-distance. Rates are determined by NIU Telecommunications.
Charges for webcasts and satellite downlinks may be assessed by the providers of the programs, but the Learning Center does not charge to support them.
