Degree Specific
This 34-semester hours program focuses on the knowledge and skills required for persons who are interested in educational leadership, administration, and management in educational settings. The program should be of particular interest to those preparing to work as supervisors, department chairs, assistant principals, and associate/assistant superintendents and may also be used by students seeking careers in higher education, private institutions or governmental agencies.
This degree requires a two semester internship completed in the fall and spring term.
The Principal Endorsement course work is completed through the degree only.
Application requirements
a) Complete the application to graduate school, degree code 130 www.grad.niu.edu
b) Submit two letters of recommendation on the graduate school's standard form submitted on your behalf from current Type 75 holders, preferably a supervisor http://www.grad.niu.edu/apply/index.shtml
c) Official transcripts from institutions in which a degree was conferred
d) GRE or waiver www.gre.org Minimum scores: Verbal 400, Quantitative 400 or combined score exceeding 800, Analytical 3.5

What if I already have a master's degree?
The department requires all students to apply and be accepted to the MS Ed in Educational Administration. The department does not offer a certificate only program for the Principal Endorsement.
