The certificate is available to any graduate-level student in good academic standing in the university. Enrollment in a graduate degree program is not necessary to earn this certificate. All courses may be taken as a student-at-large. For directions on how to enroll as a student-at-large at NIU, please consult the Graduate School.
Students must complete 19 semester hours in approved course work at NIU, including 4 core courses, a 1 semester hour workshop at the annual Children's Literature Conference, and an internship/practicum. Transfer hours will not be accepted from other institutions.
The LTLA courses will be offered at sites along the I-88 corridor. The ETT courses will be offered at sites throughout the NIU service region.
