Project Description
The Colleges of Education and Liberal Arts and Sciences at Northern Illinois University, in collaboration with two community colleges, four school districts, and the Dukane Corporation, are conducting a three-year project funded by Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology (PT3). The consortium's project is designed to promote preservice teachers' ability to effectively and meaningfully engage students in learning by immersing them in technology rich learning environments in college classrooms and clinical experiences.

Our Mission
To promote preservice teachers' ability to effectively and meaningfully engage students in learning by immersing them in technology rich learning environments in college classrooms and clinical experiences.

Project Objectives
University and community college faculty will model effective and meaningful integration of technology in teacher preparation coursework.
Through field-based clinical experiences, specifically identified and trained P-12 in-service teachers will model effective and meaningful integration of technology in P-12 classrooms.
Pre-service teachers will engage in active development of methods and materials that reflect effective and meaningful integration of technology.
A network for identifying, analyzing, and sharing teaching methods and materials that reflect effective and meaningful integration of technology will be developed and sustained.
In an effort to support the dynamic nature of technology and its use in instruction, as well as to improve the retention rates of new teachers, a network of technical support for faculty and pre-service teachers will be developed and sustained.
Pre-service teachers will be engaged in using technology to better meet the diverse needs of P-12 students.
