Mary F. English Technology Award

The Mary F. English Technology Award (MFETA) was established in September 2000 to assist the College of Education with the recruitment and retention of teacher education students who are financially or physically disadvantaged. Endowed through the generosity of Dr. Robert and Mary English, the award equips students of need with computers and printers for their personal use, providing them the opportunity to become more familiar with and utilize computers as a learning and informational tool.

In order to be considered for the award, an applicant must:

  1. Complete an application.
  2. Be enrolled as a full time, degree‑seeking student in good standing, in a teacher preparation program in the College of Education at Northern Illinois University.
  3. Possess a 2.75 or higher grade point average.
  4. Submit a statement of interest in teaching as a profession and must also include a statement of need based on financially needy or physically disadvantaged status.
  5. Have at least two years remaining in your program prior to graduation.

Recipients of the Mary F. English Technology Award will be determined by committee selection. The decisions of the committee are final. Complete application and letters of recommendation must be received by 4:30 p.m. on March 16 (NOT POST MARKED). Only complete applications will be considered.
