Office of Research, Evaluation and Policy Studies

Staff

The REPS staff consists of a full-time director, two secretaries, a transcriber, and four research assistants spread across the following areas:

  1. Theoretical Research / Program Evaluation (TRPE)
  2. Safe Schools and Healthy Students (SSHS)
  3. Technology Integration and Survey Research (TISR)
  4. Community Agency and Partnership Evaluation (CAPE)

A full-time project coordinator of grants and contracts will soon be added to the staff.

TRPE - Theoretical Research and Program Evaluation

These RA positions carry dual assignments: (1) consulting with, and assisting faculty with individual research projects related to theoretical constructs, and (2) participating in program evaluation projects contracted with school districts, public and private agencies, and state and federal governmental bodies.

TISR - Technology Integrated Survey Research

These RA positions are responsible for the following: (1) online survey research and website design and maintenance, (2) assisting other personnel with their research and evaluation projects, and (3) design, construction, and maintenance of databases as part of the overall REPS management information system.

SSHS - Safe Schools and Healthy Students

These RA positions primarily plan, conduct, and report on evaluation activities of REPS in West Chicago Elementary School District 33 and the Delta-Schoolcraft Intermediate District in Escanaba, Michigan. Their efforts are in support of the districts' recently-awarded three-year grant to research, develop, and evaluate community-wide programs that draw on the best practices of education, justice, social services, and mental health systems. The aim of the grant is to provide integrated and comprehensive resources for prevention programs and pro-social services for youth.

CAPE - Community Agency and Partnership Evaluation

These RAs work in conjunction with the College of Education's Office of Partnerships to plan, conduct, and report on REPS' evaluation activities with the College's various partners. CAPE RAs play a lead role in REPS' outreach activities within the community—from governmental to educational institutions—in both research and evaluation initiatives defined by those organizations.
