Collaboration: How I Work With Group Members

Level 4. Involvement with Organic Reciprocity

I accept the members of this group with respect, compassion, and genuine affection. We function with an optimum level of dynamic tension. I learn from the other members of the group as well as I am able to teach them. We are in "sync" with each other. We are viewed as a visible force within the College, University, and beyond.

Level 3. Involvement with Genuine Participation

I know what it takes to be a member of this group and I know that others in my group agree with me about these skills and attitudes. We have a common frame of reference and a shared language about being "Teacher Education Professors." I know that others in my group have similar internal feelings to my own about what it takes for this group to be successful. I am honest with other members of this group and they in turn trust me.

    Level 2. Working-Acceptance Involvement

I engage in customary and ritualistic ways of working with others in the group. I think these things are expected of me and I participate in doing them. Even so, I don't know if they make a difference. I do things to maintain "face" or give "lip service" to an adequate level of commitment and engagement.

    Level 1. Non-working Involvement

I feel resistance to some people in my group or their ideas. I feel conflict or open hostility. When I am operating in this mode, I have already decided that that not much good will come from my efforts and therefore I don't expend much energy in working for the group.
