LEARNING ACTION 1: BUILD KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Learning actions are processes or behaviors that learners engage in across learning situations.  Explore the useful resources at NCREL for more background.

When building knowledge and skills, students will:

See the chart of ENGAGED LEARNING ACTIONS to see how these behaviors relate to other aspects of engaged learning.

Next, go to the INDICATORS OF ENGAGED LEARNING chart, and carefully read the indicator definitions and the actions that accompany them.

One way students can build their knowledge and skills, and also take on student roles such as explorer and cognitive apprentice, is to use Internet web sites to gain access to current information.

Take a look at some Middle School Webquests at the link below; choose three webquests to examine, using the following guiding questions:


After you are finished, select one, and send your answers to the guiding questions along with a link to the site in an email to Dr. Lockard.
