My research interests include life writing, women's education, higher education and country schooling. I teach courses related to these interests. As curator of the Blackwell History of Education Museum at Northern Illinois University, I also work with student docents and teach classes in museum education. Recently I completed a book with feminist Gaby Weiner that explores the use of autobiography and biography in educational settings. Now I am in the process of researching the lives of the first two hundred women to earn the American doctorate.
