Interests

Jesse (Woody) Johnson, Ph.D. is an associate professor of Special Education. He has worked with students with disabilities for more than 20 years. During this time he has served as a behavior analyst and education consultant in a number of school and community settings. Woody has supervised clinicians responsible for the development of behavioral interventions, coordinated transition services for students moving from school to the community, and provided training and consultation to general and special educators in methods for students with disabilities.

His research interests include effective instruction for students with disabilities, functional assessment, and supporting students with intellectual disabilities and behavioral challenges in neighborhood schools. His research has been published in Education and Treatment of Children, The Journal of Positive Behavior Interventions, Journal of Behavioral Education, Research in Developmental Disabilities, Journal for the Association for Persons with Severe Handicaps, Behavioral Interventions, Focus on Autism and other Developmental Disabilities and Education and Training in Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities. Woody also enjoys building furniture and wooden canoes.
