Project SEED Timeline

Project SEED will consist of three phases of project activities: the pre-departure phase, the host country phase and the post-travel, follow-up phase.

    Training and Orientation

    Pre-departure program formation - spring 2022

    Pre-departure orientation - fall 2022

    The pre-departure program emphasizes behavioral expectations; cultural competencies and awareness; language acquisition; research methodologies; and curriculum development skills. Learning will occur in both synchronous and asynchronous settings, faculty/guest lectures, student presentations and discussion.

    Research Experience

    Our group traveled to Taiwan for a total of three months (fall 2022 and summer 2023) for engagement in research, writing, panel discussions, conversations and interaction with scholars, students, local school faculty and principals, experiencing all regions of the country.

    Post Experience Debrief

    Dissemination of learning experiences and outcome data include an international symposium on civic literacy and efficacy (early fall 2023), regional/national conferences (fall 2023), project debriefing event (fall 2023) and publication in a special journal issue of the International Journal of Science and Mathematics Education (spring/summer 2024).
