Academic Coaching and Student Success

Our programs can help you achieve academic success, adjust to campus and access a variety of resources. Through connections, programs and collaboration with other areas of campus, we strive to improve your NIU experience and help you reach your personal and professional goals.

Academic Coaching

If you're struggling academically, we invite you to participate in academic coaching. You'll receive personalized, one-on-one coaching on topics such as time management, study strategies and test-taking skills.

Contact us at coestudentsuccess@niu.edu for more information or to request coaching.

Mentoring

The Dr. LaVerne Gyant Alumni Mentoring Program connects Black/African American students and alumni of the College of Education. It gives students the opportunity to network with and receive guidance from a graduate, while providing alumni with a way to support the next generation.

Growth and Performance Review

We understand that students need different kinds of assistance. Our Growth and Professional Performance Review (GPPR) process allows us to provide you with personalized support as you progress in your program and develop into a successful educator.
